Facial Fillers
Introduction to Facial Fillers
With time, we all lose our facial volume and contours that define youth. These volume changes can result in hollowing around the eyes and temples, deflation of the eyebrows, flattening of the cheeks, and thinning of the lips. Injectable facial filler treatments are performed to restore these volume losses, often providing a “lift” of tissues that recreates a youthful shape to the face. When you come into Seattle Face & Skin for Facial Fillers, they will be done in our office with minimal downtime, helping individuals to quickly enhance their appearance and improve self-confidence!
What are Facial Fillers?
Facial fillers restore the balance of volume present in a youthful face, reducing the shadows and contours that arise as we age. Most fillers use Hyaluronic Acid (HA) which is a synthetic gel-like substance that your body can create. Although it’s not a permanent treatment, our Seattle Facial Filler patients can see results that last almost a full year before their body naturally absorbs the filler.
There are a variety of facial fillers each with unique properties that can be used to optimize outcomes and create a natural look. Examples include hyaluronic acid-derived fillers such as Belotero, Juvederm, Restylane, Volbella, and Voluma. Radiesse (calcium hydroxyapatite) and Sculptra (poly-L-lactic acid) are additional commonly used facial fillers that potentially have more permanence to results. Our providers have experienced filler injectors and create a plan that meets your goals of facial rejuvenation.

Who are the Best Candidates for Facial Fillers?
Almost anyone is a candidate and can benefit from facial filler treatment. Patients who have signs of aging more related to the volume of loss and increased wrinkling may have a greater impact as opposed to aging defined by increased skin laxity which may be better addressed with a surgical procedure. During your visit, we perform a global facial assessment to ensure you receive the treatment that meets your needs. Based on your goals, facial fillers may be one component of a comprehensive treatment plan that may include other non-surgical treatments such as botulinum toxin (for decreasing dynamic wrinkles), laser therapy (to recreate vibrant, smooth skin) or even cosmetic surgical procedures such as eyelid or facelift.
What’s the First Step?
If you would like to add some volume to your face, Facial Fillers in Seatle could work wonderfully for you! Your first step is to book a consultation with either Dr. Bhrany or one of the talented and certified Skin Care Specialists at Seattle Face & Skin. When you come in for this appointment, you will discuss the options of fillers we offer, ask questions about the treatment, and have your face examined. You will also be asked about your medical history, so it’s very important to be open and honest because the more information you provide, the better chance you have for a successful treatment and incredible results.
Using the information collected from your conversation, your personalized treatment plan will be created. If you agree with this plan, you can have your Facial Filler performed immediately, however, if you would like to reschedule for any reason, our Patient Coordinator will help you select the best date and time to come back.
What to Expect on the Day of Facial Fillers
The setup and protocols are similar for all filler products. For the procedure, you will be seated upright in a comfortable exam chair. Before any filler product is administered, makeup and dirt will be removed, usually with an alcohol pad or chlorhexidine soap. Ice or topical anesthetic cream may be used to blunt the discomfort associated with an injection. But many facial fillers are mixed with a local anesthetic to minimize discomfort which often obviates the need for any topical anesthetic cream. Injections usually take just minutes. Some redness, bruising, and swelling may occur at the injection sites but usually subsides within a few days. Taking arnica before and after treatment may reduce the risk and length of bruising. We like to have our patients return within a few weeks to ensure treatment goals were met and there is no need for any small touch up.
Facial Fillers Recovery
Once you are finished with your treatment and you are free to go, you can return to your daily routine, but you should avoid any strenuous activities for the first few days. You can expect some mild bruising, swelling, or possible discomfort after your injections, however, they should disappear after a few hours but may take a few days.
As you recover, you will be able to lightly massage the treatment areas or use an ice pack for up to 10 minutes at a time to alleviate any pain, but make sure you are still very gentle when doing so.

Most of our Seattle Facial Filler patients don’t find the treatment to be painful, but the procedure does require multiple injections with a tiny needle.
