Laser Skin Resurfacing

(Erbium Yag Laser 2490nm)

Reduce Fine Lines, Scars, and Uneven Skin Tone

In today’s society where people are eating healthier, exercising more, and living longer, many desire to reduce fine lines and pigmented lesions in their skin to help them look the age that they feel. Our  Erbium Yag laser uses a less invasive approach for treating these superficial wrinkles and sun damaged skin and requires minimal downtime, while still delivering great results for mild to moderate skin wrinkling and discoloration. It works by gently peeling off the outer layer of the dermis (skin) and placing a minimal amount of heat into the dermal tissue to help stimulate collagen. It is gentle (compared to a more aggressive CO2 laser resurfacing), safe, and can be used on the neck, chest, hands and face with minimal risk. Skin resurfacing can be performed to help treat the following problems:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Age/brown spots
  • Uneven skin tone
  •  Scars
Frequently Asked Questions

Who is a candidate for laser skin resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing using the erbium laser is recommended for those with light to medium skin tones (Fitzpatrick skin types I-V) who wish to reduce fine to moderate wrinkles and skin damage related to sun and aging on the neck, chest, hands and face.

Does it hurt?

The procedure itself can cause mild discomfort, but topical anesthetics are available prior to treatment. Following treatment, a warm or burning sensation (like a sunburn) is to be expected for several hours.

What is the recovery time following treatment?

Significant redness and peeling is expected for up to 5 days. It is important that you plan for several days of downtime following the procedure.

How many treatments will I need?

Multiple treatments are usually required for optimal results. Due to variations in skin types, this could range from 3-5 treatments, spaced approximately 4 week apart.

What results can I expect?

Skin resurfacing with the Erbium Yag Laser is a procedure that yields terrific results, typically after at least 3 treatments. Full results can be expected approximately 3 months following the final treatment, with a reduction in fine lines and overall evening of skin tone in the areas targeted.
